CHO Foundation

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

CHO Foundation…Opening Windows For Our Healthcare Future

The CHO Foundation was established in 1994 to foster, promote, develop, encourage and accept funds for the purpose of supporting Community Hospital of Ottawa.

Today, CHO is financially stable and plays a leading role in the area’s economy by providing more than 550 full- and part-time employment opportunities. The quality healthcare services that CHO provides is one of the key factors in attracting new residents and economic development to Ottawa and the surrounding areas.

But the next decade will be crucial for the healthcare industry in general…and CHO is no exception. Reductions in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, the establishment of large healthcare systems and networks, and increasing restrictions by insurance providers on hospitals and physicians who qualify for payment will greatly limit any hospital’s revenue.

We must find new methods of generating the funds that will be needed in the future for the acquisition of new technology (advanced surgical techniques, radiology/laboratory equipment, etc.), replacement of current equipment and supplies, and provision of new services that will be demanded by our growing area’s residents.

How You Can Help Ensure Healthcare’s Future

Your support is essential in building a healthcare endowment for the future. Donors to the CHO Foundation may elect to designate funds in one or more of the following ways:

Unrestricted Gift. These gifts provide crucial funds that allow the Foundation to meet immediate needs.

Permanent Endowment Fund. These donations provide a fund for the long-term support of Community Hospital of Ottawa. Only the interest earned from these funds may be used at any given time; the principal remains in the fund to provide a solid base of support for the future.

Memorial or Honorarium. These gifts can be unrestricted or made part of the permanent endowment fund, as the donor chooses. A memorial or honorarium also may be designated for a specific CHO program or service.

When you make your contribution, please designate how your contribution should be used. Undesignated donations will be put into the permanent endowment fund.

Contributions to the CHO Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, are treated as a charitable deduction for federal income, gift and estate purposes. The Foundation Board welcomes donations of personal property, stocks and bonds, or trusts and estates.
